in 138 countries around the world to pray for peace.
December 9- Second Sunday in Advent -
Worship at 8:30, 9:30, 11:00 a.m.
We will
light The Shepherd’s Candle and reflect upon the message of John the
Baptist, who calls us to repent and to change our ways!
December 11 -
The
monthly Taizé service of prayer, meditation and reflection at 7:00 p.m. It
is a time of centering and renewal, of quiet and peace in the candle-lit
Sanctuary.
December 16- Third Sunday in Advent -
Worship at 8:30 a.m. in Myers Chapel - We will
light Mary’s Candle, celebrating the anticipation and the joy of the
Baby’s arrival. At 10:15 a.m., a joyous prelude
by the Bethany Brass Quintet and organist Robert Day begins. The Festival
of Lessons and Carols begins at 10:30 a.m. as seven choirs (including
instrumentalists and handbells) foretell the coming of Jesus Christ through
Christmas carols, Scripture readings and choir anthems based on new and
traditional carols.
December 23- Fourth Sunday in Advent -
Worship at 8:30, 9:30, 11:00 a.m. Our focus will
be on Joseph’s Candle and the part we can play in the events of the
Nativity.
December 24- Christmas Eve -
4:30
p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve service with live Nativity -11:00 p.m.
Traditional candlelight Christmas Eve service
We will
light The Christ Candle, symbolizing the light of Jesus coming into
our world and into our lives. Once again we will celebrate the timeless
message that God has been born in Bethlehem’s manger to be the Savior of the
world.
December 30 -
Worship at 8:30, 9:30, 11:00 a.m. We will focus on our response to Christ’s
coming as we participate in “Passing On the Light” at all
three morning services.
December 31- New Year’s Eve -
Our traditional New Year’s Eve service begins at
7:30 p.m.
Our GPS worship experience meets every Sunday – The December sermon series

Christmas can get crazy and it can
become everything except what it should be – a time for opening our hearts
to God and to each other. Come and spend 45 minutes for music, silence,
prayer and healing. Each week we will be focusing on different meanings of

Christmas Cookies Abound at Local Church. Annual “Cookie Walk”. Dozens of
various homemade Christmas cookies will be available for purchase at $6.00 per
pound. “We sold out early last year, so we encourage people to come early and be
prepared to complete your Christmas cookie needs!” said organizer Thelma Walton.
Proceeds from the sale assist the United Methodist Women’s organization with
their support of mission projects in and out of the area.

story is told in a child friendly way, a hands on activity is
done while seated in the pews and the Holy Family and a shepherd, angel or two
arrive at just the right time. Children are invited forward to see “Baby Jesus”
who for them is as real as Santa. It is a holy and worshipful moment with all
the chaos of that first Christmas;

n this worship service,
we will hear again the beautiful Christmas story as found in the Gospel
narratives. Carols will be sung by the congregation and the highly-acclaimed
Chancel Choir. The service concludes with candlelight singing and prayer.
Please plan to arrive early, as a capacity crowd is expected;

P.M.COMMUNION SERVICE -
In a more quiet and meditative experience of the mystery of the
incarnation, we share the Christmas story in the context of a service of Holy
Communion. This service will be more intimate than the earlier worship
opportunities, also featuring the traditional scripture narrative and carols.
